How-To: Assign a User to a Location
Overview: Utilizing the locations based permission feature is an easy way to ensure that users are limited to making changes only to the specific locations associated with their account. This guide will detail how to associate a user's account with the appropriate locations.
First, you will need to travel to the "Users" page. This can be found under the "Administration" drop-down menu.
Once on the Users page, locate the user's profile and select the "Edit" button.
The Edit button will generate the fields to edit the user's profile to the right of the tiles. (See below for reference)
Towards the bottom of those fields is the section called "Associated Locations". Here the user can select the locations needed from the drop-down menu.
After each location is selected from the list, hit the "Add" button. To remove associated locations listed for a user, select the trash can icon to the left of that location.
Below the drop down menu is a checkbox labeled "Override Location Restrictions". If this box is selected, the user will have access to all locations.
After all of the needed changes have been made, be sure to select the "Save" button.
A user does not necessarily need to be associated with the service port. If the locations being assigned are associated with the service port, the service port does not need to be added for the user. To read about associating locations with a service port, go to the Service Port Manager document in this guide.
