Managing Default Assignments for POB Passengers
Overview: POB Planners often times want to set default assignments for some of their passengers on board their facility. These passengers generally are a part of a normal hitch rotation and often times have designated bunks, ICS roles, positions, etc. Being able to identify those default assignments for passengers on a per location basis will allow easier planning and better forecasting.
Defaults can be set, saved, and edited from a few different places in the Worksite area. This guide will cover these different areas and suggest workflows for effectively managing your facilities POB assignments.
Setting Defaults From Arrival Presets
From Arrival Presets
The Arrival Preset section will be the best place to begin building you facility's passenger defaults. As passengers with reservations, or transferring passengers, arrive at the facility, they will show up in the Arrival Preset section for that day. From here, preset assignments can be given, the set assignments can be saved as their defaults, and the default modal can be opened and edited.
As passengers arrive, you can save the desired assignment fields individually as defaults while others can be left blank. If you check off a passenger(s) row and hit "Save as Defaults," whatever is in the assignment fields at that moment will be saved as their defaults. This includes assignment fields that the user would wish to remain blank upon future arrivals.
For example, a passenger may be coming to the facility for multiple hitches but is not necessarily part of the core crew. The POB Planner can give the passenger assignments for things like their position, project, ICS Role, etc. but leave the room and bunk blank. The POB Planner can hit "Save as Defaults" while room and bunk is empty, then proceeded to assign his room and bunk. Each time that passenger arrives at the facility again in the future, their room and bunk will be blank with the other assignments showing their defaults.
The best way to make sure editing of a passenger's defaults is edited correctly, it is best to open up that passenger's Edit Defaults modal rather than utilizing the Save as Defaults option.
Editing defaults from the Arrival Preset section will be best used on the day to day management of the scheduled plan. As your passenger's cycle through, many of those passengers the defaults make sense for will have defaults saved.
Doing it through the Arrival Preset area does give the added convenience of giving arriving passengers their assignments and saving it for multiple passengers at a time rather than one by one in their Edit Defaults modal.
From the POB List
For passengers that are currently on board the facility's POB, their defaults can be created/edited from their Edit Personnel On Board modal. Between the passenger's profile picture and name there is a button that pops open the Edit POB Default modal for that passenger.
Editing defaults for a passenger currently on board the facilities POB list will be useful in the event you would like to edit their default assignments while you are looking at them on the POB list.
From the Worksite Area
The Worksite page has a feature that allows the POB Planners to "Edit Defaults" via a passenger search. By allowing any registered passenger to be searched, defaults can be easily applied or edited without needing to go to the day of a passenger reservation.
Editing Defaults straight from the Worksite page will be most useful if you have a specific person in mind that needs defaults edited, especially when they are not on your POB or in the Arrival Presets for the day filtered.
Do note that updating a passenger's defaults will not automatically update the assignments for an existing reservation. The new defaults will take effect upon the next arrival. You may need to update the existing reservations to match the newly set default assignments.
